About the characters:

Three of the children, Julian, Dick and Anne, are brothers and sister.

Julian: Julian is the eldest of the five. He is the cousins to George, Dick and Anne. Julian is tall, strong and caring. He is normally the leader of the group.

Dick: Dick has a very cheeky sense of humour. He is the same age as his cousin George.

Anne: Anne is the youngest in the group. She can be very shy and frightened sometimes.

George: George is a tomboy and doesn't like anyone calling her Georgina. George is a cousin to Julian, Dick and Anne.

About Enid Blyton:
Enid was born in London, 1897 - 1968. Enid has sold over 400 million copies. Enid wrote 21 Famous Five books.

Different things back then compared to today:
They had carriages and now we don't have that many as we used to because we now have cars.
They had more smart and sensible clothes to wear everyday.
They had old fashioned telephones.
They had heating by fires.
The way houses had clean chimneys was that some people that had the job to clean chimneys would come and scrub them until they were clean.

The poem for this week is The Knight. Write it out in your neatest handwriting

Once upon a time there was a knight who rode over the hills,

and killed a dragon,

and set fifteen women free
from an enchanter who kept the prisoners in a towerand found a castle where they could live,

and rode on to the desert
where two kings were fighting a war that never ended
and waved a magic shield over the battle
