On the 4.4.04 a girl named Butterfly turned 4 years old. It was also a very special day because the electronic telescope had been invented. Everyone was so excited. The cost of the electronic telescope was $5,000!! Butterfly desperately wanted to get the telescope because telescopes were her favorite object.
Then she realized that she hadn't got her birthday present yet. So she asked her parents if she could have her present and they gave her $5,000!! She made the biggest smile ever. She was so happy. She said thank you to her parents and thought about what she should get.
After a few minutes she new what she was going to buy. She went to the man who was selling the telescope and asked if she could buy it. The man first counted all of the money and said you have enough money to buy the telescope. So she took the telescope from the man and ran into her room. She put the telescope next to her bed and lay down for a little rest.
Then she realized her feet were touching something at the end of the bed. She sat up and picked it up. It was a present from her Auntie and Uncle. She read the card. It said:
Dear Butterfly,
We are very proud of you. We hope you have a lovely time today for your 4th birthday. Enjoy the birthday present and take good care of it.
Love Auntie and Uncle
She opened the present and inside it was a ring with a little dolphin holding a round, beautiful small opal. She put it on her second finger and it fit perfectly. She showed it to her mum and dad and they said it was a beautiful dolphin.
She said it was the best birthday ever!!!
THE END!!

Cloze Excersise-Swimming Carnival
On the 4th of May our school went to the swimming carnival and had a really good time. Jack V was the Junior Boy's Champion in all his races and the Junior Girls Champion was Freda S, who swam really well in all of her races. The races at the carnival included freestyle, breastroke, butterfly, backstroke and the girls and boys medley. All the children at Howards Primary School got on the bus at 9:30am and arrived at the pool at 9:45am. The first race kicked off at 9:50am and was the girls and boys medley. This was just one of the things that Freda and Jack won. Altogether the swimming carnival was the best one I have been to.
Word Bank: bus, swimming, freestyle, backstroke, school, breastroke, carnival, primary, champion, races, pool, bus, winning.

Carnivals are fun
There is lots of loud cheering
We like seeing who wins!
Swimming races are fun!
People always cheer for you
Swimming is lots of fun

The Golden Wishing Ring
Meanwhile the farmer reached home and showed his ring to his wife. "Now we cannot fail to make our fortune," he said.
"We must think very carefully how we shall use our wish."
"Why don't we wish for the land next door so that our farm can be twice as big?" said his wife. "Well that would be all right," said the farmer,"but I'd rather try really hard and see if we can save the money for the land, and in that way we will still have our wish."
And that's what happened. They worked so hard that they were able to get the land next door."Let's wish for a horse and a cow," said the wife.
"No, we don't need to waste our wish," said the farmer. "If we work hard it will not take long to buy the land. Sure enough, they were able to by a beautiful horse and cow.

Pooh has a visitor
1. Pooh woke up in the middle of the night.
2. Pooh went to check if anyone was trying to get in his honey-cupboard.
3.The strange noise Pooh heard has 10 vowels in it
4. Growl=bear, bark=dog, purr=cat, quack=duck, neigh=horse.
5. Pooh said hello to Tigger 3 times.
6. Tigger was at the door.
7. Pooh was scared because he has not heard that sound in the woods before so he got a bit worried.
8. I think Tigger is a tiger.

Ali Baba
The men stayed inside the rock for some time but Ali Baba didn't move. At last the door opened and forty men came out. The door closed and the rock led like an ordinary rock again.
Then the men galloped away. As soon as they were gone, Ali Baba climbed down and stared at the rock for a long time.
Then he cried, "Open Sesame!"
The door opened. Ali Baba went inside and couldn't believe his eyes. There was treasure everywhere.
Gold and silver lay in heaps on the floor and jars were filled to the brim with gleaming jewels. Costly silks were thrown everywhere. Rare carpets were heaped in the treasure. Money bags lay in piles.
When Ali Baba saw this, he was sure the 40 men had been robbers, and that this was their treasure.
"Thank god they didn't see me," he thought.
